“Divorce is a Sin but it is Forgivable”

Donna was my friend. She was the one person that knew the intensity of my situation. I had been sharing and pouring out my heart in emails to her. She knew the details of the abuse. She knew that I was afraid for my life. And she knew that I was without a home when I got away from my toxic spouse.

She had been supportive through email replies. She prayed for me.

She had asked me to go along with her to see her favorite Christian band. (They are uniquely good musicians and performers and are not overtly Christian in their music and lyrics.) I agreed to go and I met her at a halfway point.

We were eating lunch at a Panera Bread restaurant. I was telling her that Leslie Vernick is a supportive advocate for people like me.
(Leslie is a Christian speaker, coach and author that focuses on abuse, boundaries and strength in emotionally destructive marriages. This kind of support is very rare in my experience within Christianity.)

I was caught up in the middle of the divorce process and a tidal wave of pain. Traveling with her is one of the things that saved me.
