Don’t Put On Glasses To Look At Your Cousin’s Engagement Ring
on etiquette for not offending people
I hate wearing glasses. I have glasses that I wear for driving at night. I also have reading glasses. There is one distance, like where my food is that is convenient for eating it, that I sometimes wish to see more clearly. Especially if it is visually attractive food, I wish to see the color and textures in a clear focus. Sometimes but not always, I will put on glasses when I eat.
Certainly, I also don’t get out enough. My social skills could use some polishing.
I was actually at a funeral of an elder in the family. I had found an open seat by my cousin Jim and his girlfriend Valerie. He doesn’t call me anymore since he began dating her, so I hadn’t seen or heard from them since the last family wedding or funeral. He told me that they were engaged. She reached out her hand and I looked.
THEN…
I pulled out my reading glasses and put them on. I really wanted to see the detail of her ring. Jim was sitting between she and I, so I leaned across him, touched her hand and looked at her ring. It’s very nice (that is if you are into such things as engagement rings). I asked them questions and showed happiness and interest for them.
