My walls of protection

High walls of ice
my fortress of protection
Did I know I had built the walls?

Built from tears, anguish and fear
the brutal winds of my world
made them strong and high

Architecture built
on a foundation of pain
Entombed within the icy depths
is all that I do not wish to feel

My walls surround me
I feel safe within
All I know is cold

Why do you dare to venture
into icy blistering winds?
Keep your distance
it is too cold for you here

I fortify myself
to withstand the harshness
the only way is survival

My security and peace
the Crown Jewels
reside within

cold stone heart
frozen

Only for a moment
I ventured away
from the safety of my walls
and opened my heart toward the warmth
