The twisted saga of the rings

It all began as most relationships do. We met, dated, got engaged, bought rings and got married. It seemed to start out as normally as you would expect. He had a pretty gold ring and he wore it. No problem. We picked it out and paid some money for it. It would make sense to wear it. Why buy something you don’t intend to wear?

Then there came a time when the complaints began. He started spinning the web. There was water under his ring every time he washed his hands. Then there was the rash that the ring was making on his finger. I bought into that idea. The interior of his ring was concave. I could see how that could be the case. The ring was gold. I don’t think it was a reaction to metal. He no longer wanted to wear the ring, therefore he didn’t.

I didn’t see it until I saw it

The old me was a dreamy, romantic type. I had billowy visions of love and happiness dancing in my head. I am a visually aesthetic person. I see and notice rings, jewelry and accessories that people wear. He knew I was happy to see the ring on his finger. It was about love and connection. I told him how important it was to me that he wear it.
