I am not arguing whether comedians should be censored. I think they should have freedom to do their thing. However, it is too far to say that words don't hurt anyone (in general/ ever). This is a commonly repeated line that words don't hurt anyone. And it is not true.

"offensive": This is a larger discussion. Yes it can be ridiculous as to what people are offended by. However, I don't like blanket statements about what is or isn't offensive or hurtful. One person should not determine how another should feel about certain things. Feeling hurt or offended is not a bad thing.

"grow thick skin": I know what you are saying in your article about comedy. You know what you are getting with comedians, jokes and in society. I know thick skin is a term that can be thrown out to mean don't take things so seriously. However, sensitivity is a good thing. And sensitive people and children are demeaned and criticized for being sensitive. I am for preserving and valuing sensitivity but also learning and growing strength.

Whether I am hurt or offended is not for someone else to dictate. I am also for comedians having freedom to do their thing. Can both of these coexist? As Will Smith said, "You do you." Though it seems he doesn't really believe that.
