I am sad that that you experienced this. I feel much compassion for the trauma effects that you experience and have to work through because of this.

I am not disagreeing with your opinion or right to protect yourself. But I have some added perspective. When you say "no one" I know that this issue is vastly more complex. Kids like me who grew up in domestic violence know that not everyone should have weapons. My family members and my ex (who I never expected would escalate his behavior and use weapons when he felt he was losing control) will always be able to pass background checks. I know the legal system vs reality is a complex discussion. And it is one that we need to have. You are talking about rights and self protection/ self defense. I am talking about gun owners who use weapons as a means of tyrannical control, abuse and ruling by fear (controlling, terrorizing and harming their partners and children).
