I connected this with a previous part where he got a slap on the back / shoulder. I'm not certain I remember, but possibly it was Pavlo on Richard at the family gathering at Cafe Oasis. I am wondering if there is any allusion to a previous action.
The suspense is incredible. I am obsessed with this literary excursion.
