I grew up in mostly small rural areas. Then there was no formal church counseling. It was taught in sermons and promoted and carried by women through generations - the priority is typically for the woman to strive to provide satisfaction for their man and to keep him (happy). There is an understanding that being "accepted by" and serving a man is all there is. And it seems this naturally seeps into the forbidding of divorce (for women).

Again, there is no word strong enough to describe how sickening these horrific deeds are. The injustice is more than infuriating. It's utterly tragic how prevalent these mindsets and behaviors are. It seems like the church should collapse, but it keeps living and thriving on the money of its supporters.
