I had two dads: one that abandoned and the next one would not leave. The second dad was infinity times worse for me. So, for me fatherlessness would have been so much better. I don't think we can expect or tell people to be better at parenting because there are oh so many toxic and abusive people. We have to make sure we aren't getting drawn into relationships with toxic people. Also, we need to protect children.

My ex used the daddy issues to squash me whenever I approached him about a relational issue. I now understand that he is abusive and he was blame shifting to make me feel broken and responsible so as not to have to be accountable. He has massive issues with both of his parents.
