I Saw my Narc at the Park

for the first time since divorce court

My daughter and I were out enjoying nature on a really nice day. It is one of the most beautiful parks in the area. It was a really warm and beautiful day in early spring. We sat on a bench for a while to absorb the sunshine. At times we closed our eyes and tilted our faces toward the sun.

Then, I saw someone, several yards away. It was enough to put me on pause. We were kind of in a cove that was not facing the direction he was coming from. We saw him after he passed by. It was far enough away that I could not see a face clearly. Thank God! The clothes looked like the new sporty-ish stuff that he acquired to attract younger women. The hat was typical of him. He is obsessed with hats that don’t have “floppy” brims. Really though, he only was critical of and rejected the hats that I bought him. And that was after continually flapping his jaws incessantly about wanting a hat. He made a show out of demonstrating to me what was wrong with these hats and why he does not like them. The one that he was wearing at the park was a style mix of outback safari and American tourist.

We saw him walk this same loop a few times. Now we were on high alert. Still we could not see the face well enough. I was 99.8% certain that it was him. I thought that…
