Who knew that Kenney Rogers gives the best relationship advice?

You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ‘em
Know when to walk away and know when to run
You never count your money when you’re sittin’ at the table
There’ll be time enough for countin’ when the dealing’s done

Every gambler knows that the secret to survivin’
Is knowin’ what to throw away and knowing what to keep

Kenny Rogers * The Gambler (lyrics from genius.com)

Empty people

I am so happy, relieved and incredulous that I got away from the ex-spouse, as happy as one would be to have a tractor trailer lifted off of them and survive it. My focus for the duration of the marriage was to merely exist another day, care for my children and survive. When the “semi-truck” relationship crushed me, I didn’t spend time thinking about how much I cared about the “truck”. I only care to understand ‘what the bloody hell was that about’ and the psychology behind why a human would behave like he does.

But after every incident I tend to do a “crash report” and analyze the data. And just like my dads (both my biological dad and step- dad), I realize how absolutely fucked up all of it is and the ways they threw…
