My narc mother's two other children are much younger than I. But definitely she elevates the only male child the most. She would always shift her spotlight depending on which of us could provide something worthy of flapping to others about (to self aggrandize). I don't know if that is shifting because she always used details of our lives to draw attention to herself or if she rotated her golden child status. I have thought she shifted GC status, but now I am questioning that idea. The women in my family are severely patriarchal and misogynistic. The male child will always be golden.
