No one in my family will acknowledge abuse and sexual violations. They have been concerned about "keeping the peace" (not stepping out of line with the family and societal code). In my dysfunctional family system I learned that I didn't matter, my voice was ignored and I learned to be quiet. The women in my family elevate toxic and disengaged men. I was not supported or acknowledged in things that happened to me. It has been hard fought to find my voice, lean into self-care and my inherent value.

It is hellishly hard to break long ancestral chains of abuse and violence.
