OMG, another incredibly riveting episode into the "iconic legends". You have blown all their false teaching out of the water. I have wondered if Jim was charismatic and cunning enough to convince all of the guys to go into their deaths (because he had a reckless death wish) or if the "rumor" about 'someone' having sex with one of the tribal girls was the thing they didn't account for.??

Some of the behaviors of Jim appear as narcissistic or psychopathic, to me. But it is difficult to separate some of those things from the twisted effects of religious legalism and his struggle to deny his reality. So much of this resonates with me and my religious experience. Someone I knew is much younger than J&E, but went to a religious college. I have been looking through his journals. The twisted mindsets about sex, women and behaviors is sickening and tragic.
