he couldn’t hold on ~ and he couldn’t let go

he was just passing through
but made her believe it was more
he was her everything
she gave him her heart

he loves her
be he’s rogue
he couldn’t hold on
and he couldn’t let go

she’s the one he threw away
and the one he could never forget

she loved him all her life
but she had to let him go
you can’t hold on when it’s a rodeo
and he’s always been a traveling show

he sweet talked her into marrying
and in a few years
the baby he begged her for arrived
he marked his territory and left

now she’s following to find him
knocking on doors of where he’s been
to tell the other women
he has a family at home

took her money and her car
and with it all he took her heart
she would never gather her shattered parts
