Relationships Look Different After Traumatic Events
The one that hurt the most
Did I believe that my relationships were good? Was I just rolling through life without examining my relationships? Did I know my value and worth in those relationships?
We live several hours drive from my cousin’s house. And my son became best friends with Pete who he met through their family.
Kelli is married to my cousin Colin. She was doing her own brand of interrogating Pete. She wanted to learn information about me and the status of my marriage. She then told him regarding me, “We can’t help her if she won’t talk to us.”
To this day they have never once asked me about my life or my marriage.
Since Pete knew a bit about what we were going through, I had prepared him that he may be pressed for answers. I told him that we needed privacy and he should not feel responsible to answer if asked about us. I told him that he could say that they should talk to me.
I am angry that they would use him to get information about me. They were not willing to speak to me. They have had time and opportunity. They violated the fabric of a friendship and my family’s circumstance. They demonstrated that they had no authentic care or concern for us.
